best gyms in pune (2026) - equipment, trainers, and pricing compared

tldr: out of 12 gyms, my top 3 are gold’s gym kalyani nagar (best equipment), cult.fit (best for classes/beginners), and dotfit baner (best value). total membership money spent testing these: roughly rs 60k over 8 months of gym-hopping. full breakdown below.
so here’s the thing about gym reviews in pune: they don’t exist.
google “best gym in pune” and you get brand websites, JustDial listings with fake reviews, and LBB articles that are basically sponsored content. nobody actually tells you what the equipment is like, whether the trainers know what they’re doing, or if the locker room smells.
i’ve been gym-hopping across pune for the better part of a year. trial memberships, day passes, dragging friends along. some of these gyms are great. some are places where equipment goes to die.
here’s the honest breakdown.
if you’re someone who works out at coworking spaces during the day and needs an evening gym nearby, this should help you plan.
the quick comparison

cult.fit price is cultpass elite (unlimited classes). gym-only plans are different.
the big chains
1. gold’s gym
kalyani nagar, baner, aundh, wakad, hadapsar / monthly: rs 3,500 / annual: rs 25,000 / 9/10
image: unsplash
the OG. and honestly, still the best if you’re serious about lifting.
the kalyani nagar branch is the flagship. two floors, full hammer strength circuit, dumbbell rack going up to 50kg, multiple squat racks (this matters - most pune gyms have one, maybe two), dedicated deadlift platform, cable crossover stations.
the cardio section is huge. treadmills, ellipticals, rowers, assault bikes. everything is well-maintained.
trainers are certified and most actually know what progressive overload means. they do a proper fitness assessment on day one. personal training costs extra (rs 3,000-5,000/month).
the catch: crowded. 6-8pm is a warzone, especially the squat racks. morning 6-8am is also busy but more manageable. the aundh and baner branches are slightly less packed. parking at kalyani nagar is tight.
verdict: best gym in pune for serious lifters. the equipment quality is unmatched. pay for the annual membership - the monthly rate is a ripoff by comparison.
2. cult.fit
aundh, wakad, magarpatta city, kalyani nagar / elite plan: rs 17,490/year / 8.5/10
image: unsplash
cult.fit isn’t really a traditional gym. it’s a fitness class platform that also has gym floors. and the classes are genuinely excellent.
the group classes include yoga, dance fitness, hrx (intense hiit), boxing, and strength training. each class is 45-60 minutes with a certified trainer watching everyone’s form. the energy in these classes is infectious.
the app is slick. book classes, track progress, see your workout history. the 12-month unlimited elite plan at rs 17,490 is about rs 1,450/month for unlimited classes, which is absurd value.
the gym floor itself is decent but not gold’s gym level. good for functional training and moderate lifting. not great if you’re trying to bench 100kg.
the catch: the gym floor is secondary to the class business. limited heavy equipment. also available through cult.fit: partner gyms like gold’s gym through their cultpass, but that’s a different (pricier) plan. some classes fill up fast - book 24hrs ahead.
verdict: best gym for beginners and people who like structured workouts. the classes are genuinely fun. not for powerlifters.
3. talwalkars
viman nagar, shivaji nagar, satara road, lullanagar / monthly: rs 2,000 / annual: rs 13,500 / 7.5/10
image: unsplash
india’s oldest gym chain (since 1932). the viman nagar branch is the best one in pune. decent equipment, large floor space, group classes included.
the brand carries weight (pun intended) and the trainers have basic certifications. good for general fitness - cardio, light weights, stretching, yoga.
the catch: many locations feel dated. equipment isn’t as well-maintained as gold’s or cult.fit. some machines creak in ways that make you question your life choices. the satara road branch especially needs an upgrade. staff can be pushy with personal training upsells.
verdict: decent mid-range gym. the annual price is competitive. but if you’re choosing between talwalkars and dotfit at a similar price point, go dotfit.
boutique / specialty gyms
4. dotfit fitness
baner / monthly: rs 3,000 / annual: rs 15,000 / day pass: rs 500 / 8.5/10
image: unsplash
this is my sleeper pick. 4.2 stars from 700+ reviews and the love is deserved.
5th floor of srushti elegance in baner. the equipment includes a solid power station, well-stocked free weights area, and they offer yoga, pilates, and zumba classes as part of the membership. sauna and steam room included.
trainers are friendly and actually corrective - they’ll fix your squat form without being condescending. the happy hours plan (12pm-5pm) at rs 2,000/month is a steal if you work flexibly.
the catch: gets crowded 6-8pm. exercise mats for yoga sometimes run out. some equipment needs maintenance but they’re generally responsive about fixing things.
verdict: best value gym in baner. if you live or work in baner, this is the obvious choice. great price, solid equipment, decent community.
5. multifit
kalyani nagar, baner, hadapsar, pimple saudagar / monthly: rs 3,500 / hiit session: rs 500 / 7.5/10
image: unsplash
india’s largest functional fitness chain. the workouts are intense - hiit, circuit training, strength and conditioning. classes are capped at 20-25 people.
the kalyani nagar branch has the best trainers. the equipment is functional-focused: battling ropes, plyo boxes, kettlebells, sleds, TRX stations. if you like crossfit-style workouts but don’t want an actual crossfit box, this is your middle ground.
the catch: 4.1 stars but some reviews mention false promises during sales, pool maintenance issues, and membership fees that feel steep for what you get. the baner branch can feel crowded. monthly at rs 5,900 for hiit-focused plans is expensive.
verdict: good for functional fitness enthusiasts. not great value compared to dotfit or gold’s. try a trial class before committing.
6. crossfit chakra
koregaon park / monthly: rs 3,500 / 8/10
the most established crossfit box in pune. outdoor space which is a massive plus (most pune gyms are basement dungeons). professional crossfit trainers with actual certifications.
student discounts and couple packages available. the community vibe is strong - people actually cheer each other on. open gym hours are limited though, structured classes are the main format.
the catch: crossfit pricing. monthly at rs 3,500 with limited open gym time. you’re paying for coaching, not equipment access. if you just want to do your own thing, this isn’t for you.
verdict: best crossfit in pune. if you want to get into crossfit, start here. the coaches are legit.
7. david lloyd talwalkars
wakad / monthly: rs 7,999 / 8.5/10
the luxury option. this isn’t a gym, it’s a sports club. swimming pool (well-maintained), tennis courts, basketball, squash, spa, restaurant. the gym section is fully equipped with premium machines.
the whole family can come. kids’ programs, women-only sessions, group activities.
the catch: the price. rs 7,999/month (rs 70,000+ annual) puts this in a different category entirely. also, it’s in wakad which limits accessibility for most pune residents. only worth it if you live nearby and will use multiple amenities.
verdict: best premium fitness experience in pune. if money isn’t the issue and you want a club experience, this is it.
budget gyms
8. bodycraft gym
multiple locations / monthly: rs 1,200 / annual: rs 10,000 / 6.5/10
the cheapest functional gym in pune. no-frills, no air conditioning in some locations, basic equipment. but the trainers are experienced and focus on strength training and bodybuilding.
personalized approach, small batch training. it works if you know what you’re doing and just need a space with weights.
the catch: equipment is basic and aging. no fancy machines. some locations lack AC. it’s the neighborhood gym experience - familiar and functional, not glamorous.
verdict: cheapest decent gym in pune. fine for experienced lifters who just need a barbell and some plates.
9. forma fitness
kothrud / monthly: rs 1,700 / annual: rs 14,000 / 7/10
a step up from bodycraft. better equipment, more variety of classes, and actual ventilation. the focus is on core training and functional movements.
good for beginners who don’t want to be overwhelmed by a massive gold’s gym floor. the trainers are attentive and the batches are small.
the catch: only in kothrud. limited cardio equipment. not ideal for advanced lifters.
verdict: best budget gym in kothrud. friendly, clean, and affordable. a good starting point.
10. crossfit graybar
kalyani nagar / monthly: rs 4,000 / 8/10
part of the international crossfit community. the trainers are among the best-certified crossfit coaches in pune. the programming is structured and progressive.
they do a foundations course for beginners which is genuinely helpful. the community is tight-knit.
the catch: expensive and exclusively crossfit. if you want to just lift weights solo, this isn’t it.
verdict: best crossfit for experienced athletes. serious programming, serious coaches.
11. outraw fitness
pimple saudagar / monthly: rs 3,000 / 7.5/10
functional training and crossfit-style workouts. professional trainers, well-planned class schedules, spacious workout area.
good mix of hiit, strength, and mobility work. the pimple saudagar location is convenient for the growing north pune crowd.
the catch: limited equipment for solo workouts. primarily class-based.
verdict: good functional fitness option in north pune.
12. endurance fitness
koregaon park / monthly: rs 2,500 / 7/10
a no-nonsense gym in koregaon park. decent equipment, no fancy branding. the trainers are old-school (in a good way, they know their compound movements).
quiet mornings, moderate evenings. no class drama, just iron and effort.
the catch: nothing stands out. it’s a perfectly adequate gym that doesn’t try to be more than what it is.
verdict: solid neighborhood gym in koregaon park. nothing spectacular, nothing terrible. gets the job done.
what to look for (from someone who’s wasted money)
-
trial before you buy. every gym worth joining offers a free trial or day pass. if they don’t, walk away. dotfit does rs 500 day passes, cult.fit runs trial weeks.
-
visit during peak hours. a gym that looks amazing at 2pm on a tuesday might be a sweaty nightmare at 7pm. check the crowd before committing.
-
check the squat rack situation. if a gym has 500 members and 1 squat rack, you’re going to spend 30 minutes waiting. gold’s and dotfit have multiple.
-
ignore the sales pitch. every gym will tell you they have “world-class trainers” and “state-of-the-art equipment.” look at the equipment with your own eyes. are the cables frayed? do the machines shake? is the dumbbell rack complete?
-
negotiate. always negotiate the annual price. there’s almost always a better deal than what’s listed. bring a friend for referral discounts.
-
check for hidden fees. some gyms charge extra for locker access, towels, group classes, or even parking. ask about everything upfront.
the final word
pune’s gym scene has something for everyone. the days of “talwalkars or nothing” are over.
serious lifters: gold’s gym kalyani nagar. beginners / class lovers: cult.fit. best value in baner: dotfit. crossfit: crossfit chakra (koregaon park) or graybar (kalyani nagar). budget: forma fitness (kothrud) or bodycraft. luxury: david lloyd talwalkars (wakad).
