best cafes in pune for working (2026) - wifi, power sockets, no dirty looks

tldr: my top 3 work cafes in pune are pagdandi (baner, best overall for deep work), cafe kathaa (fc road, best aesthetics + productivity combo), and one o eight (koregaon park, best coffee while working). i’ve tested wifi, power sockets, and staff patience at all 14 cafes on this list.
i’ve worked from 30+ cafes in pune over the last year.
not all of them were good for working. some had great food but wifi that dropped every 10 minutes. some had wifi but zero power sockets. some had both but the staff started hovering after an hour, silently judging me for nursing one cold coffee for 3 hours.
i already wrote a full review of 29 cafes in pune covering everything - dates, food, budget eats, vibes. but people kept dming me one specific question: which cafes in pune are actually good for working with a laptop?
so here’s that post. 14 cafes, ranked specifically for work-friendliness. not aesthetics, not food quality, not instagram-worthiness. just: can i sit here for 4 hours, get work done, and not feel guilty about it?
what i look for in a work cafe
before we get into it, here’s my scoring criteria. every cafe is rated on:
- wifi speed - can i join a google meet without it buffering every 30 seconds?
- power sockets - are there enough, and are they actually near the seats?
- noise level - can i focus, or is someone’s birthday party happening 3 feet away?
- staff attitude - do they give me the look after hour 2, or are they chill?
- coffee quality - because bad coffee = bad work session, that’s just science
- seating comfort - wooden chairs for 4 hours is a war crime
- operating hours - early opening and late closing = bonus points
- cost per session - what’s the damage for a 3-hour sit?
i visited each of these at least twice - once on a weekday, once on a weekend. because a cafe that’s perfect on a tuesday morning can be a nightmare on a saturday afternoon.
the comparison table

the detailed reviews
1. pagdandi books chai cafe
baner / wifi: fast / sockets: plenty / 9.5/10

this is still my #1 and it’s not even close. run by a backpacker couple, pagdandi is half bookstore, half cafe, and entirely work-friendly. the wifi is consistent, there are power sockets at most tables, and the staff genuinely does not care if you sit for 5-6 hours. i’ve done entire work days here.
the kashmiri kawa is my work fuel (rs 120, worth every rupee). the book collection is distracting in the best way - i’ve bought 3 books here on impulse during “work” sessions. the seating is comfortable, the crowd is mostly solo workers and readers, and the noise level stays library-quiet because the crowd self-regulates. nobody’s having loud phone conversations at a book cafe.
the only downside? it’s in baner. if you live in kp or camp, that’s a 30-40 minute commute. also, it opens at 10am - not ideal for early starters. but honestly, the quality of the work session makes the commute worth it.
verdict: the undisputed champion of work cafes in pune. if you disagree, you probably haven’t been here.
best for: deep focus work, long sessions, freelancers who want zero distractions
2. cafe kathaa
fc road / wifi: fast / sockets: yes / 9/10

an old bungalow turned cafe with leafy surroundings, books on every shelf, and kindles on every table. this place was basically designed for working. the wifi is fast, there are charging points at most tables, and the bungalow setting creates natural sound isolation even when there are people around.
opens at 8am which is a huge plus for early starters. the crowd is a mix of students and remote workers during the day, gets louder in the evenings when friend groups show up. so aim for the 8am-3pm window.
the food is experimental - apple crumble pizza, falafel burgers - which makes lunch here actually enjoyable instead of just functional. a full work day (9am to 3pm) with lunch costs around rs 600-700. the signal is stronger in the main seating area than the garden section, so choose accordingly.
verdict: aesthetics + productivity in one package. the best work cafe on fc road, maybe the prettiest workspace in pune.
best for: people who want a beautiful workspace, morning workers, creative types who need inspiration
3. one o eight cafe
koregaon park / wifi: fast / sockets: plenty / 8.5/10

this one surprised me. i initially went to one o eight for their australian-style coffee (which is genuinely some of the best in pune), but ended up staying 4 hours because the work setup is that good. big tables, plenty of power outlets, fast wifi, and a staff that doesn’t rush you.
the vibe is calm and mature - you won’t find college groups being loud here. been running since 2013, so they know what they’re doing. the seating is comfortable enough for long sessions. the coffee is excellent, and good coffee = good work output. at least that’s what i tell myself when ordering a third flat white.
it’s above nature’s basket in lane 5 koregaon park. easy to find, decent parking. if you live anywhere near kp, this should be your default work cafe.
verdict: the best work cafe in koregaon park. great coffee, great wifi, no pretense.
best for: kp-based remote workers, people who actually care about coffee quality, solo work sessions
4. the french window patisserie
koregaon park / wifi: decent / sockets: limited / 8/10

the french window is beautiful. french pastries, buttery croissants, calm atmosphere, pet friendly. the wifi works fine for regular work - emails, docs, browsing. for video calls though, it can struggle during peak hours.
the real issue is sockets. they exist but they’re not at every table. if you’re planning a long session, ask for a table near a wall when you walk in. the staff is friendly and doesn’t mind long sitters, especially on weekdays. the expat crowd keeps things civilised.
the smoking area has outdoor seating with decent natural light, if that matters to you. weekday mornings are dead silent. weekend after 11am turns into brunch mode. plan accordingly.
verdict: work-friendly with a side of french elegance. plan for sockets though.
best for: light work sessions, writing and email days, people who want to feel like they’re in paris while answering slack messages
5. caffe & te
viman nagar / wifi: fast / sockets: yes / 8/10

hidden inside the udchalo house premises, this place is genuinely hard to find unless someone tells you about it. google maps will get you to the building, but you’ll still need to look around. once you’re in though, it’s a work oasis. lush greenery, minimal interiors, well-brewed coffee, and wifi that benefits from being inside an office complex.
opens at 7am - the earliest on this list alongside the soundtrack cafe. the morning crowd is almost entirely remote workers and startup folks. sockets are available, the coffee is solid, and the prices are very reasonable for viman nagar.
closes by 10pm, so no late night sessions. and the seating area isn’t huge, so weekends can get crowded. stick to weekday mornings for peak productivity.
verdict: a hidden gem for work. best early-morning cafe option in viman nagar.
best for: early birds, viman nagar folks, people who like discovering hidden spots
6. third wave coffee
fc road / aundh / baner / wifi: decent-fast / sockets: yes / 8/10

third wave is a chain, so the experience varies by location. the fc road branch is the most work-friendly - good seating, fast wifi, sockets available. the aundh and baner branches are also solid. the kothrud one has inconsistent wifi and plays loud music, so skip that for work.
the coffee is the highlight. syphon brewing, chemex, pour-over, single origin beans. if you’re going to sit for 3 hours, at least drink something good. a long work session costs around rs 250-350 (two coffees). the bar-style seating near the walls is the power-outlet sweet spot.
the crowd skews young. mornings are quiet, afternoons can get noisy. tables aren’t huge, so you might feel cramped if you need to spread out with notebooks. a coffee every 1.5-2 hours keeps everyone happy.
verdict: great coffee, reliable wifi at most branches. the chain advantage means consistency across pune.
best for: coffee snobs who need to work, 2-3 hour focused sprints, anyone near fc road or baner
7. cafe peter
viman nagar / wifi: decent / sockets: yes / 7.5/10

opposite symbiosis college, so the crowd is mostly students with laptops. which is both a pro and a con. pro: nobody will judge you for working. con: it can get loud with groups during college hours.
the wifi is decent, sockets are available, and they have charging points specifically for laptop users. the gorgeous outdoor seating area is great for work when the weather cooperates. the space is big with different seating arrangements, so you can usually find a quieter corner even when it’s busy.
food is affordable - the indian-korean fusion is surprisingly good. the staff is used to people parking here for hours. a decade-old brand that knows what the work crowd needs.
verdict: affordable, laptop-friendly, and well set up for the remote work crowd.
best for: budget-conscious workers, viman nagar residents, students
8. waari book cafe
kothrud / wifi: decent / sockets: yes / 7.5/10

this is the budget king for work cafes. entry is rs 60 for 3 hours, and that’s redeemable on your order. so a cup of chai and 3 hours of work costs you around rs 100-150. try getting that at starbucks.
they have wifi, charging plug points for laptops and phones, bean bags, couches, and over 3,000 books across genres. the noise level stays low because the crowd is mostly readers and students who are there to focus. open 7 days a week, 9am to 11pm.
the food is basic but decent. the space isn’t huge, so it can feel cramped on weekends. weekday afternoons are the sweet spot. off karve road near karishma chowk, easy to find.
verdict: best value work cafe in pune. nothing else comes close for the price-to-productivity ratio.
best for: students, budget workers, bookworms, kothrud residents who don’t want to trek to baner
9. cafe mhuzo goa
fc road / wifi: slow-decent / sockets: limited / 7.5/10
![]()
the usp here is simple: it’s open 24 hours. twenty. four. hours. that alone puts it on this list because sometimes you need to work at 2am and your roommate is sleeping.
goan-themed book cafe with swings, bean bags, bunk beds, and guitars on the wall. the wifi is not great - it’s on the slower side and drops sometimes. don’t plan video calls here. but for writing, coding, or reading-heavy work, it manages. sockets are limited, so bring a full charge or grab a seat near a wall early.
the food is budget-friendly. a coffee and a sandwich for under rs 200. the 3am crowd is mostly students pulling all-nighters, so you’re in good company. noise varies wildly - quiet at odd hours, louder during regular cafe hours.
verdict: the only 24-hour work option in pune. wifi is average, but nothing else gives you access at 3am.
best for: night owls, students on deadlines, people who work weird hours and refuse to apologise for it
10. nukkad cafe
viman nagar / prabhat road / aundh / wifi: decent / sockets: limited / 7/10

won best book cafe in pune in 2023, and it deserves it. this is a community space - food, coworking, events, board games, a library, guitars. three locations across pune, so there’s probably one near you.
the wifi is decent, sockets are limited (grab a wall seat early), and the vibe is chill. you can work on your laptop, order a masala chai, read a book between meetings, or just exist. nobody bothers you.
the viman nagar outlet near dutta mandir chowk is the biggest and best for working. the prabhat road one is cozier. aundh is the newest. pricing is very reasonable - a 3-hour work session runs about rs 200-250.
verdict: great community vibe, decent work setup, multiple locations across the city.
best for: people who like book-cafe energy, casual work sessions, anyone who wants options in different areas
11. cafe roberto
aundh / wifi: fast / sockets: yes / 7/10

aundh doesn’t have a lot of great work cafe options, which makes cafe roberto stand out. fast wifi, power sockets, air conditioning, comfortable seating, and even printing facilities (yes, actually). the vibe is homely and the service is friendly.
on varsha park road, not the easiest to find the first time but google maps handles it. the noise level is low, and they genuinely don’t mind long sitters. the food is standard cafe fare - nothing exceptional, nothing bad. a cappuccino and a sandwich runs about rs 250-300.
if you’re in the aundh area and pagdandi is too crowded (it sometimes is on weekends), this is your reliable backup.
verdict: aundh’s best-kept work cafe secret. quiet, reliable, unpretentious, with actual printing.
best for: aundh residents, people who need to print something urgently, anyone wanting a no-frills workspace
12. starbucks
koregaon park / fc road / viman nagar / wifi: fast / sockets: plenty / 7/10

i know, i know. putting starbucks on a pune cafe list feels wrong. but let’s be honest: for pure work infrastructure, starbucks is hard to beat. fast wifi, power sockets everywhere, big tables, comfortable chairs, air conditioning, clean bathrooms, and they literally do not care how long you sit. that’s their whole model.
the koregaon park branch on north main road is two floors and usually has space even during busy hours. the fc road branch is smaller but quieter. coffee is predictable - and when you’re deep in work, predictable is fine.
the downside? it’s expensive. a basic latte is rs 300+. a 3-hour session with two drinks runs rs 500+. and weekend evenings get noisy. go on a weekday morning for the best experience.
verdict: the corporate-safe, reliable, no-surprises work cafe. expensive but you’re paying for guaranteed infrastructure.
best for: people who need guaranteed wifi for calls, video meetings, anyone who just wants to plug in without thinking
13. the soundtrack cafe
pimple nilakh / wifi: decent / sockets: yes / 7/10

three levels, each with its own vibe. the upper floors are quieter and better for work. opens at 7:30am which makes it one of the earliest-opening cafes in pune - a real advantage if you like morning productivity.
the crowd is mostly young professionals and students from the nearby area. the music is indie and usually chill during the day, but they have live bands in the evenings. so plan to work here between 7:30am and 5pm. after that, it transitions into social mode.
the food is solid, pricing is reasonable, parking is available outside. if you live in the pimple nilakh, wakad, or hinjewadi corridor, this saves you the drive to baner or kp.
verdict: best early-morning option for the pcmc side. get there early, leave before the live music starts.
best for: early birds, pimple nilakh / wakad / hinjewadi residents, morning-to-afternoon workers
14. nothing before coffee
viman nagar / wifi: decent / sockets: limited / 6.5/10

nbc makes this list purely for its hours. open 8am to midnight, it’s the last cafe standing when everything else has closed and you still have a deadline breathing down your neck.
100+ beverage choices, casual vibe, loyal following. the wifi is decent but not amazing. sockets are limited - not every table has one. the crowd can get noisy in the evenings. the coffee itself is fine, nothing special.
i wouldn’t choose this as my primary work cafe. but as a late-night fallback when everything else has closed? it’s saved me more than once.
verdict: not the best work cafe, but the best late-night option in viman nagar. when you need one, you’ll be grateful it exists.
best for: night owls, deadline crunchers, viman nagar folks who need caffeine and wifi after 10pm
my typical work cafe routine
since people ask about this a lot: here’s how i actually cafe-hop for work in pune.
morning start (7-8am): if i need an early start, it’s caffe & te (opens 7am) or the soundtrack cafe (opens 7:30am). get there when they open, order a coffee, knock out the hardest work of the day when my brain is still fresh.
mid-morning to afternoon (10am-4pm): this is prime work cafe time. pagdandi if i want zero distractions and a quiet room. cafe kathaa if i want a beautiful space that makes me feel creative. one o eight if i want good coffee to fuel me through a long session.
evening spillover (4-8pm): most cafes get louder after 5pm when the social crowd arrives. if i need to keep working, starbucks or third wave are reliable because they’re built for it.
late night (after 10pm): cafe mhuzo goa is the only real option for an all-nighter. nothing before coffee if i’m in viman nagar and just need to push through till midnight. but honestly, if i’m working this late, something has gone very wrong.
budget days: waari book cafe. rs 60 entry, redeemable on orders. the cheapest work cafe experience in pune. i go here when i need to work but also don’t feel like spending rs 500 on coffee.
the key is rotation. don’t go to the same cafe every day - you’ll burn out on the space. i keep a loose schedule: pagdandi (monday/wednesday), cafe kathaa (tuesday), one o eight (thursday), and wildcard fridays where i try somewhere new. each one stays fresh.
quick pick: what kind of worker are you?
- early bird (before 9am)? caffe & te (7am) or the soundtrack cafe (7:30am)
- night owl (after 10pm)? cafe mhuzo goa (24hrs) or nothing before coffee (till midnight)
- need to take video calls? starbucks (fast wifi, nobody cares) or one o eight (calm and reliable)
- deep focus, no distractions? pagdandi (baner) or the french window (kp)
- on a tight budget? waari book cafe (rs 60 entry) or cafe mhuzo goa (rs 200 session)
- want great coffee while working? one o eight (kp) or third wave coffee (fc road)
- student? cafe peter (viman nagar) or nukkad cafe (multiple locations)
- live in aundh/baner? pagdandi or cafe roberto
- live in koregaon park? one o eight or the french window
- live in viman nagar? caffe & te or cafe peter
- live in kothrud? waari book cafe, the obvious choice
- live near hinjewadi/wakad? the soundtrack cafe (pimple nilakh)
- just want guaranteed infrastructure? starbucks, any location
questions people ask about working from cafes in pune
which is the best cafe in pune for working with a laptop?
pagdandi books chai cafe in baner. fast wifi, plenty of power sockets, comfortable seating, and the staff genuinely doesn’t care if you sit for 6 hours. i’ve done full work days here multiple times. close second is cafe kathaa on fc road if you want aesthetics with productivity. and one o eight in koregaon park if you want the best coffee while working.
which cafes in pune have good wifi?
pagdandi (baner), cafe kathaa (fc road), one o eight (koregaon park), cafe roberto (aundh), third wave coffee (fc road and aundh), and starbucks (all locations) have reliable wifi. cafe mhuzo goa has wifi but it’s slow and inconsistent - fine for browsing, not great for calls.
can you work from cafes in pune?
absolutely. pune is one of the best cities in india for cafe-working. the it crowd, freelancers, and students have created a culture where laptop users are welcome in most cafes. the 14 cafes in this list are specifically tested for 3 to 6 hour work sessions. just order something every 1.5-2 hours and don’t hog a big table during peak lunch.
cheapest cafe in pune for working?
waari book cafe in kothrud. rs 60 entry fee (redeemable on orders), wifi, power sockets, 3,000+ books to browse during breaks. a full 3-hour session costs under rs 150. cafe mhuzo goa on fc road is another budget option at around rs 200, with the bonus of being open 24 hours.
best cafe in pune open 24 hours?
cafe mhuzo goa on fc road. it’s the only truly 24-hour cafe in pune that’s also laptop-friendly. goan-themed, budget-friendly, with wifi and sockets. the wifi isn’t the fastest, but at 3am you won’t care. nothing before coffee in viman nagar is the next best thing, open till midnight.
that’s the list. 14 cafes, tested for wifi, sockets, and staff patience.
pune’s cafe-working culture has genuinely matured. a few years ago, opening a laptop got you dirty looks. now most cafes in baner and kp actively cater to the remote work crowd. the wifi is faster, the sockets are more common, and the expectations are reasonable on both sides.
if you want my full review of 29 cafes in pune (including date spots, budget eats, and instagram cafes), read the complete pune cafe guide. for area-specific guides, i’ve also written about cafes in koregaon park and cafes in baner.
if you’re thinking about upgrading to a proper coworking space, check out the best coworking spaces in pune - sometimes you need a dedicated desk and a meeting room more than you need a latte. for a completely free workspace, pune’s libraries are worth exploring too.
i’ve also written work cafe guides for mumbai and bangalore if you travel between cities.
and if you want to know why i spend this much time working alone in cafes, this post probably explains it.
now if you’ll excuse me, my laptop is at 4% and i need to find a socket.
