tldr: my top 3 brunch spots are bastian (best overall, bandra), the pantry (best healthy, kala ghoda), and suzette (best value, bandra). mumbai’s brunch culture is the strongest in india - every sunday, half of bandra is eating eggs benedict and pretending to be in brooklyn.

every time i’m in mumbai on a sunday, the morning plan is always the same: brunch somewhere, followed by doing nothing for the rest of the day. mumbai earned its brunch culture honestly. the city works so hard during the week that sunday mornings become sacred recovery time - and recovery in mumbai means eggs, cocktails, and a table with no urgency to leave.

a friend in bandra said “brunch in mumbai isn’t a meal, it’s a personality.” she’s not entirely wrong. the brunch scene here is performative in a way that pune’s isn’t and bangalore’s is getting there. people dress up. people photograph their food. people make reservations two weeks out for eggs benedict. it’s a whole thing.

but underneath the performance, the food at mumbai’s best brunch spots is genuinely excellent. the kitchens know they’re serving the city’s most critical meal, and they deliver. this guide covers everything from the rs 3,500 bottomless brunch experience to the rs 800 crepe-and-coffee morning.

for dinner after brunch (you ambitious person), here’s my restaurants guide. for drinks that extend into the evening, check the bars guide.

the showstopper brunches

1. bastian

bandra / sunday 12pm-4pm / rs 5,000-7,000 for two / 9/10

bastian’s sunday brunch is a mumbai institution. the word “legendary” gets thrown around too loosely in food writing, but for bastian’s brunch, it applies.

the spread: a buffet station with sushi, salads, cheese boards, and cold cuts. a la carte ordering for hot dishes - the lobster thermidor, the crab cakes, the truffle fries. a bottomless cocktails package (rs 3,500 per person with unlimited drinks, rs 2,500 without). a live band or dj. and a crowd that treats brunch like a sporting event.

last time i was here on a sunday, every table was full by 12:30pm. the energy is infectious - it’s loud, it’s festive, and the food keeps coming. the seafood is the highlight (bastian is primarily a seafood restaurant, covered in my restaurants guide).

the bottomless cocktails are genuinely good - not watered-down brunch drinks. they use premium spirits and the bartenders don’t cut corners. by 2pm, the vibe shifts from “sunday meal” to “sunday party.”

is it expensive? yes. rs 3,500 per person minimum. is it worth doing once? absolutely. is it the best brunch in mumbai? for the complete experience - food, drinks, atmosphere, energy - nothing else comes close.

what to order: lobster thermidor, crab cakes, sushi from the buffet, and whatever the cocktail of the day is verdict: best brunch in mumbai. book a week ahead for sunday. bring your appetite and your card.

4. the clearing house

ballard estate / saturday-sunday 12pm-3pm / rs 3,000-4,000 for two / 8.5/10

the clearing house brunch is the opposite of bastian - elegant, calm, refined. the setting is a restored heritage building in ballard estate with wooden floors, high ceilings, and natural light streaming through arched windows. it feels like brunch in a european country house.

the food is european-leaning. the eggs benedict are perfectly poached. the steak and eggs are serious business. the cheese board features imported cheeses that are hard to find elsewhere in mumbai. the wine list is well-curated and the bloody mary is excellent.

the crowd is older and more composed than bastian’s. couples, families, and people who prefer their brunch without a dj. the service is attentive without being intrusive.

what to order: eggs benedict, steak and eggs, cheese board, bloody mary verdict: most elegant brunch in mumbai. for when you want refinement over revelry.

9. the table

colaba / saturday-sunday 10am-3pm / rs 2,500-3,500 for two / 8/10

the table’s brunch is farm-to-table done right. the menu changes seasonally, using ingredients sourced from local farms. the pancakes with seasonal fruit are simple and perfect. the avocado toast is the best in mumbai (yes, i’m ranking avocado toasts).

the cocktail menu during brunch is creative. the space is intimate - only about 40 covers, so it feels personal. the colaba location means you can walk to the gateway of india afterward.

what to order: seasonal pancakes, avocado toast, the brunch cocktail special verdict: best farm-to-table brunch. intimate, seasonal, and genuinely thoughtful.

the everyday brunch spots

2. the pantry

kala ghoda, fort / daily 9am-12pm / rs 1,200-1,500 for two / 8.5/10

the pantry is my south mumbai go-to for morning meals. covered in my work cafes guide as a work spot, but the food deserves its own mention.

the breakfast menu is health-conscious without being preachy. granola bowls with fresh fruit, sourdough toast with poached eggs, smoothie bowls, and organic coffee. the space is light-filled and calm - the opposite of mumbai’s usual chaos.

the portions are reasonable for the price. the coffee is genuinely good (they source from indian specialty roasters). the vibe is “calm european morning” which is a radical departure from the horns honking outside.

what to order: granola bowl, eggs on sourdough, fresh juice, flat white verdict: best healthy brunch in mumbai. the kala ghoda location is a bonus.

3. suzette

bandra / daily 9am-11:30pm / rs 800-1,000 for two / 8.5/10

suzette is the best value brunch in mumbai. the crepes - savory and sweet - are genuinely as good as what you’d get in a paris creperie. the ham and gruyere crepe is simple perfection. the nutella banana crepe is what dessert crepes should taste like.

the space is tiny. maybe 8-10 tables in the bandra location. there’s always a wait on weekends. but the crepes come out fast and the turnover is quick. rs 800 for two people with crepes, coffee, and orange juice is remarkable for bandra.

suzette is proof that brunch doesn’t have to be a rs 3,000 production. sometimes it’s just excellent food in a small space with good coffee.

what to order: ham and gruyere crepe, nutella banana crepe, french press coffee verdict: best value brunch in mumbai. the crepes are genuinely world-class.

5. le pain quotidien

bandra, bkc / daily 8am-6pm / rs 1,500-2,000 for two / 8/10

the belgian chain brought proper european breakfast to mumbai and it works. the bread basket is the star - sourdough, multigrain, walnut bread, all baked fresh. the open-faced tartines are excellent. the shared table concept encourages conversation.

the bandra location is the better one. the bkc outlet serves the office crowd and feels more rushed. the organic focus is genuine - ingredients are sourced responsibly and you can taste the difference.

not the most exciting brunch, but the most consistently good. you know exactly what you’re getting every time.

what to order: bread basket, avocado tartine, organic eggs, hot chocolate verdict: most reliable brunch in mumbai. european consistency, mumbai warmth.

6. smoke house deli

multiple locations / daily 10am-12pm / rs 1,200-1,500 for two / 8/10

smoke house deli does “comfort brunch” - the kind of food that pairs perfectly with a lazy morning and no particular plan. the big breakfast (eggs, bacon, toast, beans, mushrooms, tomato) is satisfying and well-executed. the pancakes are fluffy. the coffee is good.

the interiors are quirky - walls covered in street art, mismatched furniture, a deliberately casual aesthetic. the bandra and lower parel locations are the best. multiple outlets across mumbai means there’s usually one near you.

what to order: the big breakfast, pancakes, cold coffee, hash browns verdict: best comfort brunch. the big breakfast cures whatever happened last night.

the garden and casual spots

7. kitchen garden by suzette

bandra / daily 8am-11pm / rs 1,000-1,400 for two / 8/10

suzette’s younger sibling focuses on healthy, garden-fresh food. the pali hill location has outdoor seating under trees, which on a cool mumbai morning is genuinely lovely. the menu is lighter than suzette - more salads, grain bowls, and fresh juices alongside the signature crepes.

the acai bowl here is one of the best in mumbai. the green juice doesn’t taste like punishment. the atmosphere is relaxed without being sleepy.

if suzette is brunch as a meal, kitchen garden is brunch as a lifestyle. the crowd is yoga-mat-carrying, organic-shopping bandra at its most stereotypical. but the food transcends the stereotype.

what to order: acai bowl, green juice, savory crepe, sourdough toast verdict: best outdoor brunch in bandra. health-conscious without being annoying about it.

10. pali village cafe

bandra / daily 8am-11:30pm / rs 1,200-1,500 for two / 8/10

pali village cafe is covered in my restaurants guide but the brunch deserves a separate mention. the eggs benedict here rival the clearing house at half the price. the thin-crust pizza works surprisingly well as a brunch dish. the cafe latte is consistently good.

the outdoor seating on pali hill is bandra’s best people-watching spot on a sunday morning. the vibe is “neighborhood cafe where everyone knows each other” which is increasingly rare in mumbai.

what to order: eggs benedict, thin-crust pizza, fresh juice, espresso verdict: best neighborhood brunch. the kind of place you become a regular at.

8. cafe zoe

lower parel / daily 9am-12pm / rs 1,200-1,600 for two / 7.5/10

cafe zoe’s brunch is solid if you’re in lower parel. the industrial-chic space works well for lazy sunday mornings. the eggs are well-made, the pastries are fresh, and the coffee is reliable. the cocktails during brunch are simple but effective.

not a destination brunch - you wouldn’t cross the city for it. but if you’re in lower parel or worli, it’s a good option.

what to order: eggs any style, pastries, mimosa, flat white verdict: best brunch in lower parel. functional, not fancy.

11. the bombay canteen

lower parel / sunday 12pm-4pm / rs 2,500-3,500 for two / 7.5/10

the bombay canteen’s brunch is indian-influenced, which makes it unique. instead of eggs benedict, you get keema pao with a fried egg. instead of a mimosa, you get a kokum bellini. the food is creative and the cocktails are excellent.

it’s a different brunch experience from the european-style spots. if you want something distinctly mumbai, this delivers. the cocktail program is the best in lower parel (covered in my bars guide).

what to order: keema pao, appam station, kokum cocktail verdict: most unique brunch concept. indian brunch done with creativity and respect.

12. birdsong

bandra / daily 9am-4pm / rs 1,000-1,400 for two / 7.5/10

birdsong does organic, health-focused brunch in a heritage cottage setting. everything is organic, jaggery-sweetened, and sourced responsibly. the banana bread is outstanding. the smoothie bowls are instagram-worthy and actually taste good.

no alcohol here - this is purely a food-and-coffee brunch. good for the morning after bastian’s brunch when your body is demanding vegetables and repentance.

what to order: banana bread, smoothie bowl, organic coffee, fresh juice verdict: best healthy brunch in bandra. come when your body is begging for something clean.

the brunch strategy

if you have four sundays in mumbai:

sunday 1 (splurge): bastian brunch. bottomless cocktails. write off the rest of the day.

sunday 2 (elegant): the clearing house brunch. dress slightly better. appreciate the architecture.

sunday 3 (casual): suzette or pali village cafe. crepes, coffee, pali hill walk. actually do something with the rest of your day.

sunday 4 (health): the pantry or birdsong. granola, smoothie bowl, organic coffee. pretend the first three sundays never happened.
