tl;dr: honest reviews of 12 gyms in hyderabad. chains, boutique studios, crossfit, budget options. HITEC city, gachibowli, jubilee hills, madhapur. prices and ratings.
tldr: my top 3 out of 12 gyms: cult.fit (best overall, multiple locations, rs 3,500-5,000/month), gold’s gym jubilee hills (best for serious lifters, rs 4,000-5,000/month), and crossfit hydra (best functional fitness, rs 5,000-7,000/month). full reviews with pricing below.
i haven’t visited hyderabad yet. this guide is based on extensive research - google reviews, fitness forums, youtube gym tours, and recommendations from hyderabadi friends who actually lift.
hyderabad’s gym scene reflects the city’s tech boom. five years ago, your options were basically gold’s gym or a local akhada. now there are cult.fit centers on every other block, boutique crossfit boxes in madhapur, and 24/7 chains for the IT crowd working odd shifts. the HITEC city-gachibowli-madhapur corridor has the highest gym density, because that’s where the money and the tech bros are.
the pricing is significantly cheaper than mumbai or bangalore. a premium gym membership that costs rs 8,000 in bangalore will run you rs 4,000-5,000 here. even the international chains price lower for hyderabad. the budget options are genuinely cheap. rs 1,500 per month gets you a functional gym with proper equipment. try finding that in any metro city.
the split in the market is clear. the tech corridor (HITEC city, gachibowli, madhapur, kondapur) has the chains and the boutique studios. jubilee hills and banjara hills have the premium gyms and the hotel fitness centers. secunderabad has the older, more traditional gyms. and everywhere, cult.fit is spreading like a franchise empire.
i’ve rated everything out of 10 based on aggregated reviews, equipment quality, and value for money. no one paid me for this.

chain gyms
the big names. reliable equipment, standardized experience, multiple locations. you know what you’re getting.
1. cult.fit
multiple locations (HITEC city, madhapur, gachibowli, jubilee hills, kondapur) / rs 3,500-5,000/month / 8.5/10
cult.fit has basically taken over hyderabad’s fitness scene. they reportedly have 15+ centers across the city and the number keeps growing. the model works: book a class on the app, show up, get destroyed by a trainer for 45 minutes, go home feeling accomplished.
the group classes are the main draw. s&c (strength and conditioning), hrit (high-intensity interval training), boxing, dance fitness, yoga. the trainers are energetic, the music is loud, and the peer pressure of working out in a group pushes you harder than you’d push yourself. locals say the boxing classes are particularly good in hyderabad, with trainers who actually know how to teach technique rather than just making you swing at bags.
the gym floor (for solo workouts) is well-equipped but not exceptional. functional rigs, dumbbells up to 40kg, cardio machines, cable stations. enough for most people, not enough for serious bodybuilders. the floor is typically less crowded than the classes because most cult.fit members are there for the group workouts.
the pricing structure is tiered. the basic plan (gym floor only) starts around rs 3,500. the full plan (gym floor + unlimited classes) runs rs 4,500-5,000. considering you get both a gym membership and unlimited group classes, the value is strong. the app also tracks your workouts, lets you book classes, and shows your attendance streak. the gamification works. people show up more consistently when there’s a streak to maintain.
the hyderabad centers are reportedly well-maintained compared to some other cities. the equipment is cleaned regularly. the bathrooms are functional. the drinking water is filtered. these seem like basic standards, but if you’ve been to enough indian gyms, you know they’re not.
the catch: the cult.fit app is mandatory and can be buggy. popular class slots (6-7 am, 6-7 pm) fill up fast. the free weights section is smaller than what gold’s gym or JERAI offers. and the experience varies by location. the jubilee hills center is reportedly the best maintained, while some smaller centers feel cramped. the cancellation policy has also drawn complaints. some users report difficulty pausing or canceling memberships.
verdict: the best gym in hyderabad for most people. if you like group classes and need multiple locations, cult.fit is the obvious choice.
2. gold’s gym
jubilee hills, banjara hills / rs 4,000-5,000/month / 8/10
gold’s gym jubilee hills is where hyderabad’s serious lifters train. the free weights section is the best in the city. proper benches, squat racks, heavy dumbbells (going up to 50kg+), and enough plates to keep even the strongest lifters happy. the machine selection is comprehensive. hammerstrength equipment, cable crossovers, leg press. this is a gym built for people who actually want to build muscle.
the banjara hills location is newer and slightly more polished, but based on reviews the jubilee hills branch has the better equipment and the more serious lifting crowd. the trainers are decent. not exceptional, but they know their compound lifts and won’t give you a bosu ball when you ask about deadlifts.
the catch: the peak hour crowd (5-8 pm) is intense. waiting for squat racks is common. the cardio section reportedly feels like an afterthought compared to the weights floor. the locker rooms at the jubilee hills branch could use renovation. and the staff sometimes pushes personal training packages aggressively.
verdict: the best gym in hyderabad for bodybuilders and serious lifters. the free weights selection alone makes it worth it.
3. snap fitness
multiple locations (HITEC city, madhapur, banjara hills) / rs 2,500-3,000/month / 7.5/10
snap fitness sells one thing: 24/7 access. for the IT crowd working late shifts at microsoft or amazon, being able to hit the gym at 2 am is worth more than fancy equipment. and snap delivers on that promise. key card access, security cameras, well-maintained machines.
the equipment is mid-range. good cardio machines (treadmills, ellipticals, bikes), decent cable machines, functional dumbbells. the free weights section is adequate but not deep. you’ll find dumbbells up to 30kg and a couple of squat racks. enough for general fitness, not enough for competitive lifters.
the HITEC city branch reportedly gets the best reviews for cleanliness and equipment maintenance. the banjara hills branch is smaller but quieter.
the catch: the 24/7 model means the gym can feel empty and slightly eerie during late-night hours. no group classes. limited trainer availability during off-hours. the equipment is functional but not premium.
verdict: the best choice if you need 24/7 access. clean, reliable, and always open.
4. anytime fitness
jubilee hills, gachibowli / rs 3,000-4,000/month / 7.5/10
anytime fitness is snap fitness’s direct competitor. also 24/7, also key card access, also standardized equipment. the jubilee hills location is slightly more premium than snap’s offerings, with better cardio machines and a cleaner aesthetic.
the gachibowli branch is popular with the financial district crowd. based on reviews, the equipment maintenance is good and the staff is professional. the global access perk lets you use any anytime fitness branch worldwide, which matters if you travel for work.
the cardio section is reportedly stronger than snap’s. more treadmills, better ellipticals, and functional trainers that are well-maintained. the stretching area is spacious. the overall design of the jubilee hills branch has a more premium feel with better lighting and ventilation.
the catch: slightly more expensive than snap for a similar experience. the jubilee hills location has parking issues. no group classes or specialized programming. the free weights section is limited. if you’re a lifter, anytime fitness will frustrate you.
verdict: a solid 24/7 option. slightly more premium than snap, slightly more expensive. best for cardio-focused workouts and general fitness.
5. talwalkars
secunderabad / rs 2,000-3,000/month / 7/10
talwalkars is the veteran indian gym chain. the secunderabad branch has been around for years and has that old-school gym feel. the equipment is functional but not modern. the trainers are experienced but follow older training methodologies. you’ll hear advice about “spot reduction” and “toning” that went out of fashion in the fitness world a decade ago.
the pricing makes it competitive for secunderabad residents who don’t want to commute to HITEC city or jubilee hills for a workout. the basic membership gets you floor access, cardio equipment, and the standard machine circuit. group classes like aerobics and zumba are available at some time slots.
the catch: the brand has struggled nationally in recent years. equipment updates are slow. the facilities feel dated compared to cult.fit or gold’s. based on recent reviews, maintenance has reportedly declined. some machines are out of service for extended periods. the air conditioning is inconsistent. and the membership cancellation process is reportedly difficult.
verdict: acceptable for secunderabad residents on a budget. not worth traveling across the city for.
boutique and specialty studios
smaller spaces with specific training philosophies. you pay more per session but get more personalized attention.
6. f45 training
gachibowli / rs 5,000-6,000/month / 8/10
f45 is the australian functional training franchise that’s been expanding rapidly in india. the gachibowli studio runs 45-minute group classes that combine resistance training and cardio. every class follows a different workout programmed by f45’s global team. the result is structured variety. you never do the same workout twice in a month.
locals say the trainers at the gachibowli studio are genuinely good. they correct form, modify exercises for different fitness levels, and keep the energy high. the class sizes are capped, so you actually get individual attention.
the crowd is predominantly young tech professionals. the vibe is intense but welcoming. reportedly, the community aspect is strong, with members forming genuine friendships outside the gym.
the catch: rs 5,000-6,000 per month is steep for hyderabad. no open gym access. you can only work out during scheduled class times. if you want to just lift weights at your own pace, f45 isn’t for you.
verdict: the best structured group fitness in hyderabad. worth it if you thrive on coached workouts and accountability.
7. o2 fitness studio
banjara hills / rs 3,000-4,000/month / 7.5/10
o2 fitness studio in banjara hills positions itself as a boutique gym with strong personal training. the space is well-maintained, the equipment is good quality, and the trainers reportedly have proper certifications (not just weekend course certificates). the NSCA and ACE certifications that their trainers hold actually mean something, unlike the one-week certification mills that most indian gym trainers attend.
the gym floor is well-organized. functional training area, free weights, machines, and a stretching zone. not the biggest gym, but everything you need is there. the personal training packages are where o2 reportedly excels. one-on-one sessions with trainers who actually assess your movement patterns before putting you on a program. they reportedly do FMS (functional movement screening) before designing your workout plan, which is the kind of thing only good trainers do.
the clientele is primarily banjara hills residents. women-friendly atmosphere, which matters in a country where many gyms feel intimidating for women. the changing rooms are clean and well-maintained. the overall vibe is professional without being pretentious.
the catch: the boutique size means it can feel crowded during peak hours. personal training packages add significantly to the cost (rs 15,000-25,000 per month for 3 sessions per week on top of the membership). the location in banjara hills means parking is a hassle. without PT, it’s just a decent gym at a slightly elevated price.
verdict: a good option if you want personalized training in a clean, well-maintained space. the personal training quality justifies the premium.
8. the park hyatt fitness center
banjara hills / rs 6,000-7,000/month / 8/10
the park hyatt’s fitness center is the luxury option. technogym equipment (the ferrari of gym machines), a 25-meter indoor pool, sauna, steam room, and a spa. the gym floor is spacious, well-lit, and immaculately maintained. the towels are soft. the water is infused with cucumber.
the equipment selection is comprehensive but skews toward machines and cardio rather than heavy free weights. this is a gym for general fitness, not for people who grunt while deadlifting.
based on reviews, the pool is the real draw. 25 meters, temperature-controlled, and rarely crowded. the spa treatments post-workout are reportedly excellent.
the catch: rs 6,000-7,000 per month is expensive for hyderabad (you can join cult.fit AND a regular gym for that price). the location in banjara hills is convenient for the wealthy residential crowd but not for IT workers. the free weights section is limited. and the gym can feel sterile, more hotel fitness center than gym.
verdict: the best gym in hyderabad if money isn’t a concern and you value luxury amenities. the pool alone might be worth it for swimmers.
budget gyms
solid equipment, no-frills experience, wallet-friendly pricing. these gyms prove you don’t need to spend rs 5,000 a month to get fit.
9. transform gym
kondapur / rs 1,500-2,500/month / 7.5/10
transform gym is the best budget gym in hyderabad. the equipment is surprisingly good for the price. proper squat racks, benches, dumbbells, cable machines, and enough cardio equipment. the space is not fancy. no mood lighting, no essential oil diffusers, no smoothie bar. just equipment and mirrors. and honestly, that’s all a gym needs to be.
the kondapur location makes it popular with the IT crowd who live in kondapur and gachibowli but don’t want to pay cult.fit prices. locals say the trainer on staff is knowledgeable and helpful, especially for beginners. he reportedly creates custom workout plans and doesn’t try to upsell personal training packages aggressively.
the dumbbells go up to 35-40kg and the squat rack is always available because the gym isn’t as crowded as the chains. for experienced lifters who just need equipment and space, transform is a dream. no waiting for benches. no fighting over the cable machine. just a quiet gym with enough equipment for a good workout.
the annual membership plans offer further discounts, bringing the effective monthly cost down to rs 1,200-1,500. at that price, you’re paying less than a single cult.fit class package.
the catch: basic facilities. the changing rooms are functional but bare. no air conditioning in some areas (reportedly they’ve added AC recently, but reviews are mixed). no group classes. no app. the gym can feel empty during off-peak hours, which some people find demotivating. the location is purely residential, with none of the energy of an HITEC city or jubilee hills gym.
verdict: the best value gym in hyderabad. rs 1,500 for solid equipment is hard to beat anywhere in india.
10. chisel fitness
gachibowli / rs 1,500-2,000/month / 7/10
chisel fitness is another budget option in the gachibowli area. the equipment covers the basics. cardio machines, weight machines, free weights. nothing fancy, everything functional. the space is clean enough and the staff is reportedly friendly.
the pricing is the main selling point. rs 1,500 per month with occasional discounts for quarterly and annual plans. for the gachibowli financial district crowd who just want a basic workout space, chisel does the job.
the catch: limited equipment compared to the chains. the free weights don’t go very heavy. the ventilation could be better based on multiple reviews. no specialized equipment for functional training.
verdict: a functional budget gym. fine for beginners and general fitness. not for serious lifters.
crossfit and functional training
for people who think regular gyms are boring and want to be sore in muscles they didn’t know existed.
11. crossfit hydra
madhapur / rs 5,000-7,000/month / 8.5/10
crossfit hydra is the best crossfit box in hyderabad. proper olympic lifting platforms, rogue equipment, gymnastic rings, and coaches who are actually crossfit certified (not random trainers who watched a few youtube videos). the programming follows periodization, meaning the workouts build on each other rather than being random torture sessions.
the community here is reportedly exceptional. members show up early, stay late, and actually cheer each other on during workouts. the coaches scale workouts appropriately. first-timers get modified movements and lighter weights. experienced athletes get pushed to compete. based on reviews, the head coach is particularly knowledgeable about olympic lifting technique.
the madhapur location is well-equipped. barbells, bumper plates, pull-up rigs, rowing machines, assault bikes, and enough space that you’re not bumping into the person next to you during a metcon.
the catch: crossfit isn’t cheap. rs 5,000-7,000 per month is premium pricing for hyderabad. the injury risk is real if you scale too aggressively. the class schedule might not fit everyone. and if you don’t enjoy communal suffering, crossfit culture can feel intense.
verdict: the best crossfit experience in hyderabad. proper coaching, proper equipment, proper community. worth the premium if crossfit is your thing.
12. JERAI fitness
HITEC city / rs 2,500-3,500/month / 8/10
JERAI fitness is the gym for the powerlifting and heavy lifting crowd in HITEC city. the equipment is built for strength training. heavy-duty power racks, competition-grade barbells, thick plates, and dumbbells that go heavy enough for anyone. chalk is reportedly allowed, and nobody side-eyes you for deadlifting loudly.
the gym has a raw, old-school feel. no fancy interiors, no spa, no smoothie bar. just iron, sweat, and people who take their lifts seriously. the crowd is a mix of powerlifters, bodybuilders, and serious recreational lifters.
locals say the trainers understand strength programming. they can spot you properly on heavy lifts and give useful cues for compound movements. the pricing is reasonable for the quality of equipment.
the catch: the gym is not for everyone. the atmosphere is intense and can be intimidating for beginners. no group classes, no yoga, no dance fitness. the facilities are basic. the HITEC city location means it’s convenient for the tech crowd but not for residents of the older parts of the city.
verdict: the best gym in hyderabad for powerlifting and serious strength training. if you want to squat heavy and deadlift without being asked to keep it down, JERAI is your spot.
the gym map of hyderabad
HITEC city / madhapur: the gym epicenter. cult.fit, JERAI fitness, snap fitness, crossfit hydra. highest density, most variety.
gachibowli: f45 training, anytime fitness, chisel fitness. growing area with more options every year.
jubilee hills / banjara hills: gold’s gym, anytime fitness, o2 fitness, park hyatt fitness center. more premium, slightly older crowd.
kondapur: transform gym, cult.fit, snap fitness. good budget options for the residential crowd.
secunderabad: talwalkars and a few local gyms. fewer options, dated facilities.
tips for joining a gym in hyderabad
negotiate the price. every gym in hyderabad offers discounts if you ask. annual plans are always cheaper per month than monthly plans. many gyms offer significant discounts during january (new year) and june (summer body season). some gyms also offer corporate discounts if your employer has a tie-up. ask your HR department before signing up individually.
try before you buy. most gyms offer a free trial class or a day pass. use it. the vibe of a gym matters as much as the equipment. a gym with great machines but a toxic atmosphere will make you quit within two months.
check the peak hours. visit during 6-8 pm before signing up. if you can’t get on a squat rack at peak time, no amount of equipment matters. the HITEC city gyms reportedly have the worst peak-hour congestion because the tech crowd finishes work between 5 and 7 pm.
read the cancellation policy. some chains make it intentionally difficult to cancel. ask about this upfront. cult.fit is reportedly the easiest to cancel (through the app). some local gyms require written notice 30 days in advance. get the cancellation terms in writing.
location is king. the best gym is the one you’ll actually go to. a gold’s gym membership is worthless if it’s a 40-minute drive from your house. pick the best gym within 15 minutes of your home or office. hyderabad traffic during peak hours can turn a 10-minute drive into 45 minutes.
watch out for personal training upsells. many gyms in hyderabad, especially the chains, push personal training packages aggressively after you sign up. the trainers earn commission on these sales. personal training can be valuable, but make sure you’re buying it because you need it, not because you were pressured into it.
chain vs boutique vs budget: which is right for you?
choose a chain gym if: you want multiple locations (useful if you work in HITEC city but live in kondapur), standardized equipment, and the security of a known brand. cult.fit, snap fitness, and anytime fitness are the best chains in hyderabad.
choose a boutique gym if: you want specialized training (crossfit, functional fitness, personal training) and are willing to pay more for smaller classes, better coaches, and a community feel. crossfit hydra and f45 training deliver this.
choose a budget gym if: you know what you’re doing and just need equipment and space. you don’t need group classes, fancy amenities, or a smoothie bar. transform gym and chisel fitness give you the basics at honest prices.
choose a hotel gym if: you value luxury amenities (pool, sauna, spa) alongside your workout, and money isn’t the primary concern. the park hyatt fitness center is the only real option in this category.
hyderabad’s fitness culture
hyderabad’s fitness scene has evolved rapidly. five years ago, the default workout was a morning walk around KBR park or a jog along necklace road. the gym culture was limited to bodybuilding enthusiasts and the occasional jogger. now the city has crossfit boxes, yoga studios, pilates centers, MMA gyms, and cycling groups.
the tech industry deserves credit. companies like microsoft, google, and amazon offer gym reimbursements. cult.fit offers corporate plans to major IT companies. and the culture of fitness as a lifestyle (not just bodybuilding) has spread through the young professional community.
the result is a city where you can find almost any form of exercise. want to do olympic lifting? JERAI has platforms. want group HIIT classes? cult.fit runs them every hour. want to swim laps at 6 am? the park hyatt pool opens early. want to do crossfit at an honest box? crossfit hydra has the community.
hyderabad still lacks the depth of bangalore’s fitness scene (fewer ultra-specialist studios, fewer international trainers), but it’s closing the gap fast. and it does it at 60-70% of bangalore’s pricing.
