tldr: out of 12 salons, my top picks are beauty island (best overall, 4.7 stars), geetanjali salon (best premium chain, boring road), and head turners (best for men, 4.8 stars). spent about rs 20k testing services across all 12. full reviews with prices and honest takes below.
bihar is my hometown. patna is where my family lives.
and for the longest time, getting a decent haircut in patna meant either going to the same neighborhood barber your dad went to, or making a trip to one of the two jawed habib outlets and hoping the stylist assigned to you actually knew what they were doing.
that’s changed. boring road now has geetanjali, beauty island, head turners, studio11, and a bunch of other salons that would hold their own against anything in tier-1 cities. kankarbagh has lakme and jawed habib. frazer road got toni & guy. even bailey road has naturals now.
but here’s the problem. most “best salons in patna” lists are just paid promotions or justdial listings sorted by who paid more. nobody tells you which stylist to ask for, what the actual prices are, or where you’ll walk out looking worse than when you walked in.
so over multiple visits to patna, i tested 12 salons across boring road, kankarbagh, frazer road, and bailey road. here’s the honest breakdown.
if you’re also looking for places to eat after your appointment, check out my honest restaurant reviews across patna or grab a coffee at one of patna’s best cafes.

premium salons (worth the splurge)
1. beauty island
boring road (near raj tower, above cheap & best) / men’s cut: rs 500 / women’s cut: rs 800 / coloring: rs 2,000+ / 9/10
the best salon in patna, full stop. 4.7 stars from 2,500+ google reviews. they’ve won the asia beauty and wellness award (presented by karishma kapoor) and the international quality award for best bridal makeup. these aren’t random awards either, their bridal work is genuinely the best in the city.
started in 2016 by pranav vatsa and anupma vatsa, and they’ve built something that feels premium without being pretentious. the boring road outlet has great ambiance, clean interiors, and stylists who actually consult you before picking up scissors. they also have a branch in raja bazar.
the l’oreal professional products they use make a noticeable difference, especially for coloring and treatments. keratin starts at rs 4,000 and the results last 3-4 months if you maintain it properly.
the catch: gets extremely busy on weekends, especially for bridal bookings. walk-ins during peak hours can mean a 30-40 minute wait. always call ahead or book in advance. prices are higher than most patna salons, but you’re paying for consistency.
verdict: best all-round salon in patna. if you can only try one salon on this list, make it this one.
2. geetanjali salon
boring road (above malabar gold & diamonds) / men’s cut: rs 710 / women’s cut: rs 1,000 / coloring: rs 2,500+ / 8.5/10
geetanjali has been around since 1989 nationally, and the patna outlet on boring road lives up to the reputation. 4.5 stars from 760+ reviews. 25 staff members. the place is large, well-lit, and doesn’t feel cramped even during peak hours.
the stylists here go through proper geetanjali training, and it shows. haircuts are precise. coloring is well-executed with premium products. the fact that bhojpuri celebrities like akshara singh come here tells you something about the quality.
hair spa starting at rs 800 is a solid deal. their keratin treatment is more expensive than beauty island (rs 5,000+) but the finish is smoother.
the catch: the most expensive salon on this list. a women’s cut + color + blowdry will easily cross rs 4,000. the pricing follows their national standard, which means you’re paying delhi/mumbai rates in patna. worth it for special occasions, hard to justify for a regular trim.
verdict: best premium chain salon in patna. go here when you want to look your absolute best and don’t mind the price.
3. toni & guy
frazer road (fazal imam commercial complex, near patna central mall) / men’s cut: rs 600 / women’s cut: rs 800 / coloring: rs 2,500+ / 8.5/10
the international chain that actually delivers. 4.4 stars from 740+ reviews. the london-based training curriculum means the stylists here understand precision cutting, layering, and modern techniques. this is the place for fashion-forward cuts and creative coloring.
the frazer road location is convenient and the interiors are sleek. they do excellent balayage and highlights, probably the best in patna if you want something trendy rather than safe.
the catch: the pricing can escalate fast once you go beyond a basic cut. a full color treatment can hit rs 6,000-8,000. also, consistency depends on which stylist you get, so ask for the senior stylist specifically and don’t settle for whoever’s free.
verdict: best for creative, trendy cuts and coloring. if you follow hair trends and want something beyond “normal,” toni & guy is your place.
mid-range salons (good value)
4. head turners
boring road (ground floor, ams park, behind hira panna jewellers) / men’s cut: rs 400 / women’s cut: rs 600 / coloring: rs 1,800+ / 8.5/10
the best men’s salon in patna. 4.8 stars from 630+ reviews, which is absurdly high for a patna salon. l’oreal professional certified. the men’s grooming here goes beyond basic haircuts, proper beard styling, facials, hair treatments, the works.
it’s a unisex salon, and the women’s services (bridal makeup, nail art, styling) are solid too. but the men’s section is where head turners really shines. the stylists understand different face shapes and actually suggest cuts that suit you rather than just doing whatever.
the catch: small space. it’s behind hira panna jewellers, so finding it the first time can be tricky. during evenings and weekends, the wait can be annoying. they also have a branch in anandpuri near lal market, but the boring road one is better.
verdict: best salon for men in patna. if you’re a guy who cares about grooming, this is your spot.
5. d’elixir salon
east boring canal road / men’s cut: rs 500 / women’s cut: rs 700 / coloring: rs 2,000+ / 8/10
a solid boutique salon that’s quietly built a loyal following. they also have a branch called the golden oak spa (operated as a unit of d’elixir). the team includes dedicated colorists and bridal makeup artists who use high-quality products.
their nano plastia treatment is excellent, one of the few salons in patna that does it properly. keratin, smoothening, and advanced coloring are all well-executed. hygiene standards are high, they follow strict protocols with clean equipment.
the catch: not as well-known as beauty island or geetanjali, so you might not find as many reviews online. the location on boring canal road is slightly less convenient than the main boring road stretch. but the quality makes up for it.
verdict: best boutique salon in patna. quieter, more personal, and the treatments are on par with the premium salons.
6. 9to9 salon
multiple locations (bandar bagicha, sk puri, patna city, ashiana nagar, rajendra nagar) / men’s cut: rs 350 / women’s cut: rs 500 / coloring: rs 1,500+ / 7.5/10
been around since 2006, which makes 9to9 one of the og salon chains in patna. they partnered with l’oreal paris early on, and that product quality shows. five locations exclusively for ladies and four exclusively for men across the city, which means separate, dedicated spaces for each.
the sk puri and bandar bagicha outlets are the most established ones. basic cuts are done well, coloring is reliable for standard jobs, and the pricing is fair for what you get.
the catch: quality varies between outlets. the newer locations in ashiana nagar and rajendra nagar aren’t as consistent as the original ones. staff turnover is a thing, so your favorite stylist might not be there next time. also, the men’s and women’s salons being completely separate means you can’t go as a couple and get done together.
verdict: reliable local chain with a 20-year track record. not the fanciest, but you know what you’re getting.
chain salons (reliable but predictable)
7. lakme salon
kankarbagh (90 feet road, shiv shail sneh complex), boring road, saguna more, phulwari sharif / men’s cut: rs 400 / women’s cut: rs 600 / coloring: rs 2,000+ / 7.5/10
the most recognized salon brand in india. multiple locations across patna, and the kankarbagh branch on 90 feet road is the best one (opposite pillar no 23). 2,500+ satisfied clients at the dakbanglow outlet alone.
you know what you’re getting with lakme: clean space, standardized service, lakme products, decent execution. the bridal packages are popular and well-structured. facials and cleanup services are good.
the catch: zero creativity. every haircut feels templated. the stylists follow a national standardized process, which means consistent but not creative. for basic trims and standard facials, perfectly fine. for anything requiring artistic judgment (balayage, creative coloring, layered cuts), go to beauty island or toni & guy instead. weekend waits can hit 40+ minutes even with appointments.
verdict: safe choice for basic services. good hygiene. but you’re paying for the brand name, not artistry.
8. studio11 salon & spa
boring road (opposite indraprastha apartment), kankarbagh, ashiana nagar, kadamkuan / men’s cut: rs 350 / women’s cut: rs 500 / coloring: rs 1,500+ / 7/10
studio11 is everywhere in patna, four branches and counting. the boring road outlet (4.4 stars) and kadamkuan outlet (4.5 stars from 210+ reviews) are the better ones. they’re known more for bridal makeup and spa treatments than for haircuts, using mac, kryolan, and temptu products for makeup.
basic haircuts are competent. hair spa and facials are well-done. the pricing is very reasonable for the quality level, making this a good everyday salon.
the catch: the sheer number of locations means quality varies. ashiana nagar is the weakest outlet (4.0 stars). the salon interiors are functional but not luxurious. for a salon that’s everywhere, they’re surprisingly inconsistent. always check reviews for the specific branch before going.
verdict: decent chain salon, best for bridal makeup and spa treatments. for regular haircuts, there are better options.
9. jawed habib
kankarbagh (meera complex, beside chandan automobiles) / men’s cut: rs 300 / women’s cut: rs 500 / coloring: rs 1,400+ / 7/10
the jawed habib name carries weight across india, and the kankarbagh outlet is solid for basic services. men’s cuts are the sweet spot here, rs 300-400 for a clean, no-nonsense haircut. the stylists are certified through jawed habib’s training program.
keratin treatment ranges from rs 4,000 to rs 8,000 depending on hair length. bridal makeup starts at rs 10,000.
the catch: the franchise model means the patna experience doesn’t always match the brand promise. some stylists are still learning and it shows, especially with coloring. the salon can feel crowded and rushed during peak hours. also, multiple jawed habib outlets in patna are run by different franchisees, so quality varies between them. the kankarbagh main road one is the most reliable.
verdict: good for affordable men’s cuts. for everything else, the franchise inconsistency is a real problem.
budget salons
10. naturals
sp verma road (samridhi complex), bailey road (awadh enclave, near pillar no 15), kankarbagh (ss tower) / men’s cut: rs 250 / women’s cut: rs 450 / coloring: rs 1,000+ / 7/10
the budget-friendly chain with 850+ salons across india. the sp verma road outlet has an outstanding 4.8 google rating. three locations in patna give you options across the city.
men’s haircut at rs 250 is genuinely the best value on this list for a branded salon experience. women’s cuts at rs 450 are fair. coloring starts at just rs 1,000, and keratin from rs 3,999. bridal packages from rs 5,999 are the cheapest branded option in patna.
the catch: you get what you pay for. the interiors are basic, the products are their own brand (decent but not premium), and the stylists rotate frequently. the sp verma road branch is the most consistent one. bailey road and kankarbagh are hit-or-miss depending on who’s working that day.
verdict: best budget chain salon in patna. no frills, fair prices, gets the job done. the sp verma road outlet specifically is surprisingly good for the price.
11. green trends
kankarbagh / men’s cut: rs 250 / women’s cut: rs 400 / coloring: rs 1,200+ / 6.5/10
the cheapest chain on this list. 375+ salons nationwide. hygiene is decent, they use disposable towels. stylists are trained through their internal program.
membership plans start at rs 999 and offer decent discounts if you’re a regular.
the catch: wildly inconsistent. one visit can be perfectly fine, the next can be “what happened to my hair.” the product quality is basic. limited locations in patna compared to cities like bangalore or chennai where green trends is huge. this is a coin flip salon.
verdict: if you need a quick, cheap cut and don’t want to overthink it, fine. but manage your expectations accordingly.
12. famous gents parlour
boring road (road no 23, near rahul masala gali, sri krishna nagar) / men’s cut: rs 200 / 7/10
the classic patna gents parlour experience. no fancy interiors, no l’oreal products, no instagram page. just skilled barbers who’ve been cutting hair for years and know exactly what they’re doing.
rs 200 for a men’s cut that’s honestly as good as what you’d get at jawed habib for rs 300. the shave is excellent. if you’re a guy who just wants a clean, no-nonsense haircut without the salon markup, this is it.
the catch: men only. no women’s services. no coloring, no treatments, no spa. the space is small and basic. no appointments, it’s first-come-first-served. but for what it is, it’s perfect.
verdict: best budget men’s haircut in patna. the barbers here are the real deal.
price comparison: common services

prices are approximate and vary by hair length, stylist level, and specific outlet. always confirm before sitting down.
my honest tips
-
always ask for the senior stylist. the price difference is rs 100-300 but the quality jump is massive. junior stylists at chains are still learning on your head, literally.
-
weekday mornings are the move. boring road salons get packed after 4 pm and on weekends. go on a tuesday or wednesday morning for less crowd, more attention, and sometimes better pricing.
-
boring road is the salon hub. beauty island, geetanjali, head turners, studio11, d’elixir are all within a 2 km stretch of boring road and boring canal road. if you want to compare, start here.
-
for coloring, go premium. chain salons use standardized formulas for color. premium and boutique salons custom-mix. the difference is visible, especially for balayage, highlights, or anything creative. don’t try to save rs 500 on coloring, you’ll regret it.
-
check google reviews for the specific branch. studio11 boring road is 4.4 stars, studio11 ashiana is 4.0. lakme kankarbagh is different from lakme saguna more. the brand name means nothing, the specific outlet is everything.
-
negotiate packages for bridal bookings. every salon in patna will negotiate on bridal packages, especially for off-season (non-wedding months). ask for a trial session before committing.
the final word
patna’s salon scene has genuinely leveled up in the last 5 years. you no longer have to settle for whatever’s closest to your house. boring road alone has enough options to rival any tier-2 city in india.
if money isn’t an issue: beauty island or geetanjali. if you want value: head turners or d’elixir. if you’re on a budget: naturals (sp verma road outlet). if you’re a guy who just needs a clean cut: famous gents parlour or jawed habib. if you want trendy/creative work: toni & guy.
